AFTERCARE ➵ HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR TATTOO Your new tattoo will need to be cared for carefully to ensure that you get the best results possible. Make sure to listen to the advice of your artist following the completion of your tattoo as every artist may have slightly difference advice for you. IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO FOLLOW YOUR ARTISTS AFTERCARE PROCEDURE, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE YOUR TATTOO! We recommend ONLY Organic Aftercare or Hustle Butter for fresh tattoos (available at the front desk). We DO NOT recommend using Vaseline, Savlon, or Bepanthen. Avoid using any products that contain alcohol or perfumes. DO NOT pick, scratch, knock, or rub any scabbing that occurs. DO NOT expose your tattoo to any dirt, dust, perfumes, body scrubs, direct sunlight, sunbeds, fake tan, sand, debris, salt water, chlorine, bodily fluids or pet hairs. AVOID soaking, shaving, waxing, exfoliating, saunas, hot tubs, swimming, and tight or irritable clothing until the tattoo is fully healed. NEVER share aftercare. ALWAYS apply with clean hands! Remove the clingfilm around 2-4 hours after your tattoo session. Gently wash the area with mild, unscented soap & tepid water - ensure the tattoo is clean and all secretion and residue is removed. Lightly pat the tattoo dry with clean kitchen towel and let it air dry for 15-20 minutes. With clean hands, apply a very thin layer of your aftercare (Organic Aftercare / Hustle Butter), making sure to cover all parts of the tattoo. Avoid allowing your tattoo to dry out during the healing period. With fresh clingfilm, re-wrap your tattoo, pushing out all of the air and secure in place. Repeat this process twice a day for 3-5 days if possible, this limits clothing and debris from coming into contact with your tattoo. We recommend sleeping with clingfilm protecting your tattoo. If irritation occurs, stop using clingfilm but continue to wash, clean & apply aftercare regularly throughout the healing process & beyond. Healing can take anywhere from 7-18 days, everyone will heal at different rates. We advise returning to the studio after 2 weeks so that we can see how you're healing. ➵ TATTOO SUMMER CARE Fresh / healing tattoos must be kept out of the sun! If you expose them and blast them in the sun they WILL fade and it is strongly advised not to use sun cream on fresh tattoos whilst they are still healing. Stick to your normal healing cream and keep the tattoo covered with loose clothing protecting it from the sun. Fresh tattoos should not be soaked in swimming pools, at all. If you are going on holiday, make sure you have left enough time between the tattoo session and the holiday to allow for your tattoo to fully heal and settle into your skin. Remember drinking plenty of water and keeping your body hydrated helps promote healthy healing. *Be advised that we cannot tattoo sun burnt skin, try and keep the area where the tattoo will be going out of direct sun for 48 hours prior to the tattoo session if possible* Healed tattoos should only be exposed to the sun if they have a high factor sunblock applied to them (ideally factor 30 or above), this will help protect the tattoo from fading and going blurry. It's worth noting that laser tattoo removal works by firing short pulses of intense light at the tattoo which fades the ink, so letting the sun blast your tattoo is doing the same, only slower and less powerful. Sometimes people may find their tattoos itch a little in the heat, so applying some soothing moisturiser / cream such as E45 or cocoa butter may help (handy tip - keep it in the fridge). Happy healing!
