HOW CLEAN IS THE PROCEDURE AT ORIGINS?

Here at Origins, we take the utmost care to ensure that our piercing rooms and all equipment involved in the piercing process is as sterile and sanitary as it can possibly be. For example,

  • Our piercer use disposable sterile nitrile gloves (latex free) for all piercings to avoid contamination of the client and surfaces in the piercing room.
  • Our needles are of the highest quality from companies in the USA that produce some of the best and sharpest needles specifically designed for body piercing, they are required to perform stringent monitoring and documentation of their manufacturing processes. Needles are disposed of immediately after the piercing is performed. Needles are never used more than once.
  • Any implements that are not disposable, such as forceps or receiving tubes, are cleaned, disinfected and autoclave-sterilized on a 134° sterilisation cycle prior to use. An autoclave is the same device used by hospitals, doctors, and dentists to sterilize equipment. Autoclave sterilization is the only way to ensure that all equipment is properly sterilized and safe to use on you.
  •
  • We never use piercing guns, as they cannot be properly and fully sterilised, damage tissue and use only poor quality mystery metal that causes even further damage to tissue including staining around the piercing site.

WHY DO SOME PLACES OFFER PIERCINGS SO CHEAPLY?

Unfortunately, some places offering studios will cut corners with health, safety, and jewellery quality to increase their profit and turnaround, and so can provide cheap (but risky and low quality) piercings. If a piercing seems too good to be true, it usually is!

Here at Origins, we take every possible health and safety precaution, and only use high-quality internally-threaded hand polished titainium jewellery. In this way, we can ensure that your piercing will heal as well as possible and your jewellery will last, it is more bio compatible with your body, lighter and stronger than stainless steel. it can also be anodised in any colour, giving you more choice than ever

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE BEFORE I CAN REMOVE / CHANGE MY JEWELLERY?

Healing times will vary (you can refer to our types of piercing page for rough times) so it's best to wait as long as possible before removing jewellery to ensure that the piercing will not close up. If you're hoping to remove or change the jewellery on a new piercing for the first time, your best bet is to drop by the studio and consult our piercer. We will also happily change your jewellery for you!

IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD DO BEFORE GETTING MY PIERCING?

        • If you're getting a piercing with age restrictions (eg. nipple or genital), please bring a valid form of photo ID with you.
        • Eat something a few hours beforehand to get your blood sugar levels up, this will help you  to not feel faint or dizzy during or after the procedure.
        • Avoid alcohol, excess caffeine, and recreational drugs for at least 24 hours beforehand.

DOES IT HURT?

Everyone has different thresholds for pain, so the experience of getting a piercing will vary from person to person. How painful it is will also depend on where on your body you have chosen to get the piercing. So yes, it may hurt a bit, but probably not as much as you may think. Remember that the anticipation is usually worse than the actual procedure, so just try and relax as much as possible and you'll be fine!

Generally the process of cleaning the area, checking the marks, preparing the jewellery and changing in to sterile gloves will take a lot longer than the piercing its self, more often than not all the piercing will be is a nice breath in and out and the piercing is done, a few seconds for jewellery insertion and thats it, you now have an awesome new piercing.
